Vintage China

My family's vintage china (at least half a century old), I managed to save these pieces of old china from being discarded.

Made in Tangshan, China, might have been brought over from Tangshan
by my grandparents in the 1930s.

Vintage Enamelware

Vintage enamelware exudes such character and charm.  The new ones are nothing like them, and there are only a handful of shops that sells enamelware nowadays.

I read about a shop in Tiong Bahru that stocks them and recently made a trip to check it out.  I was quite disappointed with the quality (I should have known that old things were definitely better made and of better quality), the feel is inferior and thin enamel coating that bearly coats the metal, plus the finishing is substandard.  I only bought a large mug with cover and it took me a while to pick the best of the three that they had - my gosh, full of flaws.

Here are some of the charming pieces from my collection:

Emilio Lustau Sherry Wine Vinegar

Emilio Lustau S.A. was founded in 1896 by Don José Ruiz-Berdejo.

Sherry Wine Vinegar is one of the finest vinegars in the world.  It is exclusively produced from grapes cultivated in the Jerez vineyards and aged in oak casks through the 'solera' system.

By tradition, this vinegar is very concentrated, sharp on the nose and intense on the palate.

Taste of Arbequino Family Reserve

“It stands out for its extraordinary fineness, roundness and enormous complexity, within an appreciable intensity and fine body, and, especially, its exceptional fruit, aromatic and gustatory quality. Exuberant vegetable fragrances: lemon skin, lemon verbena, tomato leaves and olives. And in the mouth it stores a growing, very evolutionary taste, where the velvety entrance eventually becomes an explosion of impregnated green sensations of a fine bitterness and a certain final spiciness".
